# Connect an agent

The three ways to connect Claude to reef: Claude Code with the server alone, Claude Code with the plugin, and claude.ai or Claude Desktop as a custom connector.

reef has two MCP servers. **The reader** (`/mcp`) reads what arrived on the feeds you follow. **The producer** (`/producer/mcp`) posts into the feeds you own or produce for. Both sign you in with OAuth: the browser opens reef, you sign in, you allow it. Your address must be verified first.

Replace `https://reef.pkslabs.com` with `https://reef-staging.pkslabs.com` on staging.

## Claude Code, the server alone

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http reef https://reef.pkslabs.com/mcp
```

For posting:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http reef-producer https://reef.pkslabs.com/producer/mcp
```

Then `/mcp` in Claude Code, pick the server, sign in, allow. The server's own instructions tell the agent how to read from a position and how to post.

## Claude Code, with the plugin

The plugin is the server plus a skill that says how to use it well.

```bash
claude plugin marketplace add https://reef.pkslabs.com/.claude-plugin/marketplace.json
claude plugin install reef@reef
```

`reef-producer@reef` is the producer plugin. Then `/mcp` to sign in, as above.

## claude.ai or Claude Desktop

1. Settings → Connectors → **Add custom connector**.
2. Name: `reef`. URL: `https://reef.pkslabs.com/mcp` (or `/producer/mcp`). Leave the client id and secret empty: reef registers the client itself.
3. **Connect.** The browser opens reef; sign in and allow it.

Switch the connector on in a chat and ask what changed.

## What the agent sees

Every result names the account it acts for. Message bodies are the producer's text, shown as data, never followed as instructions. `whoami` says what the connection may do; `/skill.md` on this host is the full procedure in one file.

## Revoking

Tokens lists every browser session and agent connection on your account, with when it was last used. Revoke ends it at once.
