What's new in Polaris 2.0.0-rc.1

Polaris 2.0.0-rc.1 brings more components in line with the new admin style update, fixes several layout and event-handling bugs, and improves mounting and update performance.

What's changed

Components

• Table now matches the updated Shopify admin design.
• Tooltip can now be placed in Section's supplemental slot.
• Section now supports equal-height cards within the same Grid.
• Select now matches the height of TextField and other inputs.
• Badge now uses a pill shape on mobile.
• Banner title contrast has been improved.
• ColorPicker saturation-well shadow fixed at the corners.

Layout

• On narrow screens, Section’s primary action moves below the card instead of squeezing the heading.
• Section headings and subheadings now have tighter spacing.
• Aside Section headings now use the default text color.
• Menu icons use the secondary icon color at rest.
• Page aside Section styling is fixed.
• Page/Section secondary actions no longer lose their disclosure icon when their Menu or label is added after mount.
• The first nested Section no longer sits lower than other first children.
• Slotted actions no longer disappear when component markup is injected into an already-connected element.

Reliability, state and performance

• GlobalThis.polaris state is no longer lost when a page loads the bundle more than once.
• Modal actions now fire a bubbling click even with commandFor set.
• TextField accessory clicks now reach React onClick handlers.
• Faster mounting and updates, especially on pages without React, and less re-rendering from unrelated attribute changes on ChoiceList, Menu, Modal, Select, and pickers.
