The rovo:mcp module is now available in Early Access Program (EAP). This module allows you to expose existing and new actions as tools in Rovo Studio, enabling users to build custom agents using tools provided by your apps
What's changing
The rovo:mcp module enables your app to:
- Appear in the selection panel in Rovo Studio under Connected Apps.
- Expose actions as tools for anyone to integrate into their custom agents.
- Prepare for upcoming support to expose these same tools to third-party agents (such as Claude and Cursor) via Atlassian Rovo MCP.
What you need to do
- Review the
rovo:mcpmodule documentation to understand the manifest requirements. - Add the
rovo:mcpmodule to your new or existing Forge app manifest. - Define the actions you want to expose as tools within the module configuration.
Rovo MCP tutorials
Get started building Rovo MCP apps that expose Forge actions as tools for custom agents in Rovo Studio:
- Build a Rovo MCP hello world app — create your first Rovo MCP app and expose an action as a tool a custom agent can invoke.
- Read Jira issues with a Rovo MCP tool — build a tool that reads a Jira issue and returns its details to an agent.
